The Draconic Calendar
Section titled “The Draconic Calendar”Official Chronometric System of the Dragons of Omain
Section titled “Official Chronometric System of the Dragons of Omain”The Draconic Calendar is one of the oldest chronological systems in Omain, predating most humanoid civilizations. Unlike Erulian timekeeping—rooted in religion, holidays, and social ritual—the Draconic system is stark, mathematical, and devoid of ceremony.
Dragons do not celebrate festivals, nor do they mark sentimental dates. Their calendar is a pragmatic tool, designed for:
-
recording lineage
-
measuring cosmic shifts
-
elemental weather cycles
-
synchronizing inter-clan migrations
-
tracking hibernation periods
The Draconic year contains 336 days, divided into 12 months of 28 days, each consisting of 4 identical weeks of 7 days.
The Three Draconic Seasons
Section titled “The Three Draconic Seasons”Dragons divide the year into three great seasons, each representing a long elemental cycle rather than a climatic one.
All season names are derived from ancient Draconic language roots.
| Season | Duration | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Fyrhune | Months 1–4 | Season of Heat, Fire, and Growth — wyrmlings commonly hatch during this time |
| 2. Skathros | Months 5–8 | Season of Shadows, Stillness, and Deep Thought — dragons retreat into contemplation |
| 3. Vargun | Months 9–12 | Season of Cold, Hunger, and Vigilance — migration and territorial disputes peak |
Unlike mortals, dragons treat seasons as cosmic cycles, not agricultural ones.
The Twelve Draconic Months (28 Days Each)
Section titled “The Twelve Draconic Months (28 Days Each)”Each month’s name originates from the ancient Draconic tongue, referencing elemental, cosmic, or ancestral phenomena.

The Draconic Week — The Sevenfold Cycle
Section titled “The Draconic Week — The Sevenfold Cycle”Dragons recognize a 7-day week, known as the Sarthun, or “Cycle of Seven”.
Each day corresponds to a state of being in draconic existence.
